Reflections on a Save Crystal Episode 5

ReflectionsT1 (1)
In this episode we have more goofs per minute than is federally allowed, they are coated in so much trans fat and poo that we warn against ingesting them all at once. This weeks news was about Diablo III, Mr.Tit, Obsolete PSP games, Birds in space, and Journey. We also tried something new with the audio, let us know what you think.
This episodes reflection is: “We can all agree that music plays an important part in games, but just how important? Can a game be made or broken by its soundtrack? When has music been great, and when has music been terrible for you? During a multiplayer competitive game should there be music? What do you think about the move from actual music to ambient sound? Are there any soundtracks or songs from games that we carry with us from day to day? If so is it because it is good music or is it because it is tied to the memories of the game? Opinions on Custom soundtracks, games they should or should not be in and why?”

Final Song was Megaman Dubstep Remake

I've spent the last few days with [info]inever and it's been a lot of fun. We went to a gay bar on Friday, or whatever day that was, and danced with various people. I saw the queen who I thought was cute from when she was working the bar the Wednesday before, except on stage. She's such a hot slut. ¬_¬ [info]inever got really close with this girl who seemed to be having issues with her boyfriend.. very close indeed.

We saw The Dark Night last night and it was better than your average super-hero movie. I don't get all the hype, though, aside from it being BRANDON LEE'S LAST FILM.. I mean.. Whatever. It was really a pretty average action movie, which is to say it had an immature plot and lots of splodey stuff. The Joker was played pretty well, ~lick~ but he spoke a bit like Jack Nicholson's Joker at times, except without the commanding boom that Nicholson can project. The Joker's fleshed out thought-experiments made the movie a little tedious, since there were several of them. I still liked Batman Returns best.

I ate too much yesterday, and now I feel terrible. Here's a muxtape for you.

The following was taken from [info]statements, which is the only way I've been using LJ for a couple months..

I had a dream that I was a princess leading a princess' life. Then my father was killed and the castle over-run. I hid in the wine-cellar for a while with two supporters of my father. I was found out during the seizure and was made to report to the new king. He wasn't mean; he was arrogant and I hated him sorely, but he wasn't mean. After being left alone, I somehow made it into the basement with a pack full of supplies. There were tunnels leading far out and away from the castle, which I followed. I came out and travelled over-land for a long time, heading toward a village in which I knew somebody. I met her, somehow, to tell her that I had escaped and would never be coming back to that kingdom. Just as I was about to depart, my friend got a phone call. She handed me the phone and said, "His Majesty would like to congratulate you on your escape." I woke up then, because I got scared.

Now I have a headache.

Top 5

Idea stolen from [info]inever

If I could only hear five songs for the rest of my life, these are the ones I would pick:

Kris Kristofferson - Sunday Morning Coming Down
Gandharvas - First Day of Spring
Mojo Nixon - Redneck Rampage
The Cure - From the Edge of the Deep Green Sea
Katamari Damacy OST - Cherry Blossom Colour Season

What would you guys pick?

This iconic picture immortalizes a historic precedent. In a huge, choreographed mass around the world, the internet showed up on Scientology's doorstep to sing 80's songs at the injustice of capitalistic religion. In virtually every major english-speaking city, drothes of masked 20-somethings proclaimed that their Thetan power level was OVER 9000! I am proud to see my internet bretheren so boldly take up a torch and mob the over-happy denizens of Xenu, I only wish I could have been there. With numbers as high as 300 estimated at certain gatherings, (and as low as 1 ((BUT BIG BALLS)) in Tokyo,) these champions of free speech have lashed out against the seemingly joke-cult of a mediocre sci-fi novel writer. I don't know how to express how awesome this is.

With real-life raids taking place, anonymous "chan" sites have found a new power within themselves. They have figured out that they can go out there and make news, say things with a unified voice. I really wonder what Moot thinks of all this.

I have been listening to newer Metallica recently, you know, post-Black Album. I've never given it a chance before, though now that I listen to the three proper albums they've released since '91. I can't give them an entirely horrible review. They've changed since my teenagehood, certainly. They're not metal anymore, it's more like blues rock with some obvious country influence. Your typical bar band sound is what they've being going for, I think, though they are obviously Metallica, you can't mistake the lead's voice. They're using more blues riffs and more typical timing in their tracks, and more consistantly, too. Some of Kirk Hammet's lead guitar (i'm talking about a couple solos and a lick here and there) is still beautiful but that seems to clash with the general sound of base rock that they've managed to create. They're still using punk/metal muting and rhythm a lot of the time, though, which confuses me and, I think, blunts the whiskey-and-oak imagery I feel when listening to Load.

By the way, I really dislike the newest album because it has a digital sound, like linkin park or something. The guitar and everything is much, much too clean and very obviously digitally altered. I have no problem with digital production of songs and tracks, but only when you are using it to enhance your existing sound (i am speaking here of bands who use live instruments,) not when you are creating a whole new sound using the digital technology. You begin to lose the feel of your finished product if you change it so much it sounds like flipping switches, rather than pulling strings. The human element got lost on their last album, is what I think I'm trying to say.

Load and Reload, while having silly names, are alright albums. I approve.
